Kansas City may be known for its tasty barbecue and funky jazz, but those are only a couple of the things that make our city an exciting place to live.

Country Club Plaza

From upscale shops like Valentino to more affordable options like Forever 21, the Plaza caters to a wide variety of tastes and preferences. The outdoor shopping center spans 15 blocks and is home to nearly 100 stores, 50 restaurants and 10 hotels.

BBQ

There is a bit of an ongoing rivalry between the top barbecue joints here in Kansas City. Gates, Oklahoma Joe’s and Arthur Bryant’s are among the favorites, so you’ll have to try them all and decide for yourself.

The Arts

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Arts is a favorite Kansas City attraction, housing more than 33,500 objects— and it’s all for free! Similarly, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art is an interesting museum that presents special exhibits, educational programming and a permanent art collection. Looking for a theater show or concert? The Kansas City Repertory Theater and Starlight Theater both put on fun productions throughout the year, while the Sprint Center, Kemper Arena and Cricket Wireless Amphitheater are a few of the city’s main concert venues.

Union Station

Union Station Kansas City is not only a historic train station, but it also shows a number of unique exhibits throughout the year. It’s also home of Science City, a kid-friendly place to explore and experience the world of science. You can also find a movie theater, a planetarium, delicious restaurants and fun shops located within Union Station.

Power & Light District

Over the past five or six years, the Power and Light District in Kansas City has opened more than 50 unique venues for dining, shopping and entertainment. It’s family-friendly during the day and turns into a hip bar scene and concert venue for the 21+ crowd at night.

Worlds of Fun & Oceans of Fun

Worlds of Fun is a fun amusement park fit for both kids and adults! From big roller coasters to kiddie rides in “Dinosaurs Alive,”  WOF has attractions that everyone will enjoy. Need to cool off? Oceans of Fun is a water park just a short walk away.

Arrowhead & Kauffman Stadiums

Baseball fan? Kauffman Stadium has you covered. Football fan? Arrowhead is right next door. Kansas City has some of the most passionate and loyal fans around, so be sure to get in on the action.
